
Destined to be to be on the pass at Kiln and Smoking Goat, Fred's pigs eat a 100% homegrown diet. No soya, and up to 75% nutritious forage. Ultimately our aim is to produce a 100% forage fed animal all year round.
We breed Tamworths - a native breed, slow growing for exceptional flavour, finished at a minimum of 10 months old.
Between April and October you’ll find our pigs grazing herbal leys - species rich mixtures of legumes, grasses and forbs (nutritionally dense, medicating & soil conditioning wonders!).
The pigs instincts to root proves too destructive for the long-term leys over winter so we graze multispecies cover crops instead
